Top five lessons learned

Observations from last year’s gardening adventures.

1. Watermelons don’t exist.  Stop trying to grow them. 

2. Diversify.  In the event of an apocalypse, a pantry full of hot sauce and salsa will feel like a miss.

3. Stop letting the herbs flower.  It’s defeating the point, no matter how pretty it looks.

4. Prune for eff’s sake.  Six foot tall tomato plants quickly lose their charm.

5. Wooden skewers are not appropriate stakes, even if you use two.
