It's not looking good for urban chickens in Winnipeg.

A draft of the new Responsible Pet By-law  was release today and it’s not promising news for those of us hoping to keep chickens in the city.  The proposed By-law states that “Urban chicken keeping in Winnipeg will be allowed only in areas that are agriculturally zoned due to potential food safety, humane and neighbourhood liveability issues.”

For those of you who are able to show your support, there will be a gathering of like-minded people at the City Council Meeting (City Hall) at 9am on January 14th to protest this proposed ban.
